It’s the first official day of summer! With no travel plans in the books right now, we’re looking at a few months of exploring more of New York and enjoying some of our already-favorites. Between cold-brew-and-Oatly lattes, here’s where you’ll find me around the city this season.
-
Wake up early one weekend morning, get coffee at Maman, and wander through SoHo while the neighborhood is sleeping in.
-
Have a beach day in the Rockaways, with lunch at Tacoway Beach (the best tacos!)
-
Visit Central Park’s Conservatory Garden while the flowers are blooming.
-
Stand in line (or win the TodayTix lottery) for a free Shakespeare in the Park performance.
-
Try a new farmer’s market or two.
-
Head out to the DUMBO waterfront for brunch or dinner with one of the best Manhattan skyline views.
-
Picnic in Central Park. Make a day of it with books and blankets, or just enjoy breakfast before it gets too busy – it’s almost always quiet before 11am on weekends.
-
Spend a sunny afternoon in the garden at Laudrée SoHo – they take reservations!
-
On rainy days, check out the great museum exhibitions around town like Camp: Notes on Fashion at the Met and Nature at the Cooper Hewitt.
-
Have friends over for a dinner of snacks.
-
Get out of the city! I can’t believe how little I’ve explored on the east coast since moving here – if you have any favorites, let me know!
